Home > Brunch, Singapore > Bronte

So we woke up on Saturday with brunch in mind, and I was flipping through that small food guide by 8 days for some ideas, and Bronte immediately drew me in. It’s something about the lazy Greenwood Ave feel I guess. Brunches are meant to be lazy, and secluded? Ok, so nothing in SG is really secluded, but you get it right? Nestled within a private estate, that’s pretty secluded. And of course, who could miss a name like Bronte? The family of writers from the 1800s.

So off we went.

Bronte is a family owned restaurant, and it prides itself on good wine and comfort food. Well, I don’t know about the wine, because I did not have any, but they do serve pretty comfortable comfort brunch food.

Smoked salmon scrambled eggs, garlic portobello and smoked baked beans

Smoked sausage, potato hash, and scrambled eggs

Lots of smoked stuff. I had the sausage, and T had the salmon. The portobello mushroom was tastefully done, and the eggs were fluffy. Nothing bad about both dishes, though the smoked baked beans could have been better. Kinda felt like they were pretty bland.

The interior of the restaurant is flanked by mirrors on one side, and on the other, black and white pictures. Could sense a PS Cafe thingy going on with the huge bunches of (odd) plants in vases, but nothing quite matches PS Cafe’s lilies and whatnot. On that morning, one could see the typical angmoh clientele, which is not surprising, given its location in Bukit Timah.

The cappuccino was a little disappointing though. Not frothy enough. Bad coffee always makes me gripe.

Other than that, service was attentive and it was a pleasant brunch experience. Might try the dinner here some time.
